Lancaster City Museum

The City Museum, situated in the Old Town Hall (built 1781/83) , tells the story of Lancaster through the ages. It is also the home of the King’s Own Royal Regiment Museum and the current location for the British Library exhibition A History of Magic.

Discover the world of Witchcraft and Wizardry and explore some fascinating objects from the museum’s collection. Inspired by the subjects taught at Hogwarts, the exhibition explores some of the influences behind the magical Harry Potter universe. Find out how Hogwarts History intertwines with real life in Lancashire and beyond.

Take a look around you might see a few woolly things hiding inside. Don’t forget to get dressed up in the Hogwarts students robes and scarves. Post your photo on Instagram and tag @yarncaster for a chance of winning a Harry Potter Themed prize.

The Museum also has a selection of activities on over the holidays.

15 & 29 August – 10-12 & 1.30-3.30 – Hogwarts Magical Taster Session – £6 per child – Aimed at 7+ – Receive your own wand, and experience some Hogwarts classes! Book your places at the museum.
